Rutherford County Cat Rescue is 100% volunteer-powered. From foster care to transportation to social media, every role is filled by dedicated community members who love cats.
Whether you can spare a few hours a month or want to make a bigger commitment, there's a place for you on our team!
How You Can Help
Foster Homes (Most Needed!)
Time Commitment: Flexible, typically 2-8 weeks per cat
Since we don't have a physical shelter, foster homes are the heart of our rescue. You provide a safe, loving temporary home while we find the cat's forever family.
We provide: Food, litter, supplies, and all veterinary care
You provide: A safe space, love, and socialization
Transportation
Time Commitment: A few hours per month, as needed
Help transport cats to veterinary appointments, adoption events, or between foster homes. Perfect for those who can't foster but want to help directly with cat care.
Social Media & Marketing
Time Commitment: 2-5 hours per week, remote
Help create posts featuring adoptable cats, share success stories, engage with followers, and spread awareness about RCCR's mission. Experience with Facebook, Instagram, or other platforms helpful but not required.
Fundraising
Time Commitment: Flexible, project-based
Help organize fundraising events, write grant applications, coordinate supply drives, or develop partnerships with local businesses. Great for those with event planning or grant writing experience.
TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) Assistance
Time Commitment: Flexible, as needed
Help with community cat management through humane trapping, transportation to spay/neuter appointments, colony feeding, and follow-up care. Training provided for those new to TNR.
Administrative Support
Time Commitment: 3-5 hours per week, mostly remote
Help with adoption application review, email correspondence, data entry, updating website content, or coordinating volunteer schedules. Can be done from home on your own schedule.
Adoption Events
Time Commitment: 2-4 hours per event, occasional weekends
Help staff adoption events at local pet stores or community gatherings. Talk with potential adopters, answer questions, and help showcase our wonderful cats.
Photography
Time Commitment: 1-2 hours per cat, as needed
Take high-quality photos of adoptable cats at foster homes. Good photos dramatically increase adoption chances! Professional equipment helpful but not required—smartphone cameras work great.
