Please Note: RCCR does not operate a physical shelter. All our cats are cared for in volunteer foster homes throughout Rutherford County. This allows us to provide individualized attention and helps us learn each cat's unique personality to ensure the best match for your family.

Our Adoption Process

Browse Available Cats

Check both ShelterLuv and PetFinder to see all cats currently available for adoption. Each listing includes photos, personality descriptions, and special needs information.

Submit an Application

Complete the online adoption application through ShelterLuv or contact us directly. We'll ask about your home environment, experience with cats, and what you're looking for in a feline companion.

Application Review

Our volunteer team will review your application and contact you within 3-5 business days. We may ask additional questions to ensure the best match between you and your potential new cat.

Meet Your Match

Arrange a meeting with the cat at their foster home. This gives you a chance to see how they behave in a home environment and ask the foster parent questions about their personality and habits.

Finalize Adoption

Complete the adoption paperwork, pay the adoption fee, and welcome your new family member home! We'll provide you with medical records and ongoing support.

Adoption Requirements

  • ✓Age 21 or older - All adopters must be at least 21 years of age
  • ✓Housing approval - If renting, must have landlord approval for pets in writing
  • ✓Household agreement - All household members must meet and agree to adopt the cat
  • ✓Current pet vaccinations - Existing pets must be up-to-date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered
  • ✓Home visit - May be required for some adoptions to ensure a safe environment
  • ✓Adoption fee - Helps cover spay/neuter, vaccinations, and medical care

Submit Home Visit Video

As part of our adoption process, we ask potential adopters to submit a short video tour of their home. This helps us ensure our cats will be placed in safe, suitable environments.

Adoption Fees

Our adoption fees help cover the cost of spaying/neutering, vaccinations, microchipping, and any necessary medical treatment.
